Black & WhiteSomething very very simple to shoot, however the result came out better than I expected. Another example of how seeing something you like and then trying to emulate it can work in your favour. Comments most welcome.

Very creative and a great piece of design work. That is an image you could sell and it's an image that some ad agency is going to pilfer from you. Register it as part of your logo in order to protect it further. Also, I can see it printed very large and framed, hanging in a swank boardroom. Regards

i can't take the credit for the idea ... saw it elsewhere and decided i'd try and do the same and practice some lighting techniques. ... but you're right... very simple but very effective. cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
thankyou for the comments Matt.... from you they mean alot. however.. as i have said earlier the idea wasn't mine... i just pressed the shutter. cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
This is fantastic, I love it!!
I agree with what everyone else has said....so, so simple, but damn effective. Just brilliant!

great shoot ..........but the pencils need a bit of lifting off the background as they blend too much for me....... you can do this by adding some small reflectors or mirrors..........
cheers bp Cheers ....bp....
Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
exactly what i wanted. for once i'm totally content with the shot... ![]() http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Very nice. Perfect the way it is.
At first I thought it was just the black pencil with a a bit of stuff hanging off from being sharpened, and that the other pencil was in fact a curl of paper ![]() - Nick

Looks great!! I can't see anything wrong with it. It's kind of trippy.

Mark - as a designer myself, I would have to say that you should never be afraid of plagiarism. It is 80% of any designers life.
The art is to emulate well - and you have done this. The real art is to emulate an original idea in another direction ![]() I really like what you have done. Chris

thanks Chris.... I have no problems in plagiarising an idea... but I will in no way take credit for it, just as i would expect that people wouldn't take credit for ideas which i have created... ![]() cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.

Excellent. I thought exactly the same as Nick at first. Took a few moments to realise it was two pencils. I think this is what makes the shot - the way the pencils dissolve into the matching background. Peter

A well executed & shot Mark, well done.
Think the little dent on the white pencil can be fixed and the pencils sharpened to a nice even point. Then it would be perfect in my view, but you know I have a pretty different view on things. ![]() Great imaginative stuff. Mic. ![]()
Great shot! What an excellent shot. It would be an ideal poster for something like a graphics course.
The blending of the background set the shot and makes your mind focus on the subject. Terrific. Cheers, Terry ![]() "Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gismos. thankyou all for the kind words... much appreciated.
