Night of the Living Phone Booths

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

This fellow's sick and tired of the abuse. It's time to rise up! He's not gonna take it anymore.

"Exterminate! Exxxteerrrrrminaaaaate!"

Interesting angle of a phone booth Dee. Personally I think it's a bit too bright to give any street emotion. The walls surrounding the booth don't quite anything to the image - I would have preferred to go for a darker look and feel to the pic.

I got all the drama I need from the angle, I didn't really want to overdo it with too much darkening personally. I find I'm shying away from overdoing things too much. I suppose a slight darkening on the sides might help, but on my monitor it seems like much darker on the phone would be too dark? I actually have several that were darker, but they just seemed...dark?

So that's what Gary Coleman's view of a phone booth looks like.

I would have been tempted to let the phone hang off the hook.

Not sure what Telstra is?

I like the idea of having it off the hook. I might have to reshoot (it's about 45 steps out my front door).

hi

from the two i prefer the first one, on the last photo the light area is way too much, and is very distracting.

on the first one, i really like it. i also like the idea of off the hook. the only problem is that, the inner lines guide your eyes to the center top area of the telephone booth and there is nothing in there just very bright light and dirt.

thanks for sharing your work

I love it! I really like wide angle. It's a really cool photo of something so common. Excellent work! BTW... Canucks sucks....

Yeah I know. There's an entire 4 points between us and the flames, so they aren't far behind.
