Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

These are great Peter - especially the motion blur.

With the first one, if I was going to be super-picky, I'd twist it a degree or two anti-clockwise to straighten the edges at the extreme sides of the frame.

Colours are great. Good stuff. :D

Stubbsy - the 'Bullet Train' colours, reflection and blur make this a top shot. Well done, and have another Cascade Premium

Peter, all I can say with #3 is wow and mirror the comments above.

I'm on a strong colour bender right now, and this really appeals :)

I'm starting to feel envious of not being at Steamfest

Hi Peter,

it was a great morning, something very different. That's certainly something photography does to you. It gets you out to experience things that you may normally not consider going to. It was my first visit to steamfest.

I like all three shots, but like everyone else, that #3 is amazing.

I haven't had a chance to PP any of mine, just transferering them to my HDD right now.

Cheers,

André

Stubbsy,

The third photo is the pic of the bunch. I love the reflection and the blur characteristics of the photo.

Thanks all for your comments. #3 concerned me a little. I really liked this image (in fact I liked all four variants I took and found it hard to pick which version to PP), but I was worried it was too blurred to be recognisable and so lack appeal.

Simon - first one is vertical - the car is tilted (a lot). If you look at the street lights you can see this or with the rightmost pipe on the building. I actually tried straightening the car, but then the street lights and pipes were too tilted. Can't win sometimes

Daniel & others - Steamfest presents quite a lot of photo ops and is well worth a visit next year.

Fair point Peter and I can see you've taken the best option.

No worries Simon. I think we have all managed to get ourseleves obsessed about straightness (myself included).
