B&W implied nude C&C

Was asked to do this shot yesterday. Was a great challenge, learned a lot doing it, and interested to see what the good folk in here think of it.

this was a paper seamless taped to the edge of my kitchen bench, with a black cloth backdrop behind the shot. Lighting set up, is one strip light parallel to the models body, above her. I love the shadows, these shadows are straight from the camera!

the hard line black to white in the background is undesirable, but I like the curves too. Perhaps I can PP somehting better in this area of the shot.

I think this shot was one of the first where I have stepped into a bit of creativity, creating what I want to see, not what I think others want... a much nicer way to be creative

I like this one, the lines and shadows are great. The black and white are well-balanced, kind of 'yin and yang' -ish.

Bruce, I think this is techincally well executed in all aspects - lighting, tone, etc. as the other have pointed out.

The only problem I have is I don't get it. Is it trying to say something? Or is it just "art" (and maybe that's why I don't get it)? It looks like a very uncomfortable pose. Oh, and I don't like the chunky shoes, but that is probably just me.

thanks wayne. I have wanted to push myself for some time. I have been holding off being creative while learning the ropes of the gear that I have, and all things new to my skills due to digital, and my love of people and portraiture.

thanks to you, and many other in this very forum, I get challenged, and encouraged to learn more and more, so thanks all!

everytime I get my meter out I think of leigh's comments on exposure. everytime I pose a subject, I try to remember the solid advise from Wendell. and your comments, on me stepping out of a comfort zone, into a fun filled adventure of creative photography.

I love what I am learning, and starting to get some results I am very happy with.

Photography. Can draw many analogies with mastering the game of golf...

agree on the shoes, they are a bit strong/heavy for the shapes, strappy heels next time...

as for what were we trying to say, umm, curves of light? dunno, no statement, just fun, enjoyable, tasteful curves.

A lovely, sensual image. A touch of Helmut Newton, but with a tad more sensitivity. (I never like Newtons work). Would love to see a print of this.

Nice concept and good B&W - I like it. though my personal preference is that the white backdrop hasn't been layed down nicely (seems to have just been plonked down there, rather than carefully arranged). Also, the placement of the trailing ribbon can be better so as no to "cut" through the feet.

thanks for the feedback. I think next time I would tape the paper to the floor more. it was an issue slipping out from under her, as her weight was pushing away from the bench.

I think I might clone the black over the white where the two backdrops meet...
